Announcements, Monday, Feb. 18th
Students- reminder that tomorrow is the blood drive. Make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids today and make sure you eat a good breakfast tomorrow! The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office along with other law enforcement agencies will be increasing traffic enforcement efforts around the Shawnee County area high schools as part of the SAFE program initiative. The enforcement phase will be Feb 25th – March 8th. Officers will be focusing efforts on roadways near our high school campus and citations will be issued for those not buckled up. There is a Girl’s swim meeting today at 2:45 in the T-Bird room, and a parent meeting tonight at 6:30 in the cafeteria. Thunderbirds on the Run meet in Mr. Propps’s room 305 on Feb. 27th during T-Bird time. Boy’s golfers need to meet in the weight room with running shoes on after school tomorrow (Tuesday). Model UN members have a final meeting today. This mock session is required attendance. There will be a Tennis informational meetings for boys interested in Tennis after school in Mr. Propps’ Room- S305, if you did not make the meeting this morning. Physicals and Sports fees need to be turned in before the 25th. Anyone interested in trying out for baseball, you need to go by Coach Werner’s room 333 and fill out a tryout sheet. Reminder: If you are going out for a Spring Sport, you must have your physical on file with the Athletic Office before the first day of practice – February 25th. Do you have a wacky or fun skill? Auditions for the 2019 Talent Show will be February 18 and 19 after school. Everything is welcome, except for music with a karaoke track. Signup sheets will be available on Mr. Doole’s door by the end of the week. If you have questions ask Peyton White, Nikky Bloomquist, or Mr. Doole. For all adventurous students: Spend Spring Break 2020 in 4 European countries. There will be an informational meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 26th at 7:00 pm in room 615. This month would be a great time to sign up to get the $150 early bird bonus. This is open to students, parents, patrons and other friends of the district. Are you creative and curious? Do you love to write stories about popular topics? Or maybe take photos on the sideline of the big game, or design a page that comes out of a magazine? Then we need you for the yearbook or newspaper staff! Pick up an application outside of Mrs. Daley’s room in S409. The deadline to apply is Friday, Feb. 15. BSU members: If you plan to attend the trip to the AMERICAN JAZZ & NEGRO LEAGUES BASEBALL MUSEUMS IN KANSAS CITY on THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2019, you must sign up in THE MAIN OFFICE BY WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2:30. Students who sign up must be paid BSU members, in good standing (NO discipline problems), and cannot be on the AWL or Tardy list. Also students who sign up must go and return on the bus and are responsible for getting assignments from their teachers. We will leave at 7:45 A.M. from the CAFETERIA, and return at approx. 2:15P.M. Cost is $9.00 admission (PAY WHEN BOARDING THE BUS) and enough money for your lunch.
