Reminder Students: You are not to park in the visitor parking lot at any time. These spaces are reserved for our visitors and substitutes and are very limited especially during this time of year. Auditions for Choraliers will be held today and Thursday from 4-6-pm in Mr Doole’s room. Sign up information is also on his door room 335. If you love to sing this is the place for you! Calling all High School Seniors! Would you like to be featured on the district’s social media? The Kansas State Department of Education is using the “Kansans Can, and I am” campaign to promote the great students we have in our state. Tell your story and be one of the students featured on our Shawnee Heights USD 450 social media pages. All you need to do is create a short video of yourself. Video guidelines are: • No more than 15-20 seconds in length • Include your name, your school, and your future plans (two-year or four-year college, trade school; military; workforce; or certification) • End your video by saying “Kansans Can, and I am.” When you’re finished with the video submit it and a media release form to our Communications Specialist, Tiffanie Kinsch at email@example.com. Approved videos will be featured in the month of May. Deadline for submitting videos is May 1, 2019. We look forward to seeing your videos! Post Prom tickets are available to purchase at the Bank of Shawnee Heights. Please stop by Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday during lunch to buy your PP Ticket! Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door on May 4th. The annual TrigStar competition will be held Thursday, April 25 right after school in room 625. This test has no sign up fee, and you can use any trig notes you have. Come compete for the chance to win cash prizes! Signup by Tuesday, April 23 with your math teacher or Mrs. Bailey. If you would like to attend the State of Kansas Holocaust Remembrance Service on April 29th, Shawnee Heights High School will be taking 25 students to the event. The bus will leave from the school at 12:15. The sign up is limited so sign up with Mr. Hamilton in room 326 and pick up a field trip consent form. Want to travel to the rain forest? Want to zip-line? Visit a coffee farm? Do a service project? See a volcano? Join me on an 8 day trip to Costa Rica in May and June 2020. There will be an interest meeting on April 30, 2019 at 6:30 pm. If you sign up before June 1st there is a $200.00 discount!! Anyone can go! The meeting is in Room 618—Sra. Smith’s room. See you there!! SHHS Spirit Club is looking for officers for next year. If you have excellent leadership skills, creativity, ability to work well with others, most importantly, LOTS OF SCHOOL SPIRIT, stop by Mrs. Ward’s room (415) for an application. Applications are due by April 26. Driver Education application packets are available in the main office. Stop by and pick one up if you are interested in taking the course this summer. Prom tickets go on sale today! $25.00 Single, $45 Couple. Get yours at the business window! Outside date forms are in the main office and are due by April 30th. Food insecurity means that a person or household may have food today, but does not know if there will be food tomorrow or enough food for everyone in the household. 1 in 6 children under the age of 18 are food insecure. The Care Closet is here to help. If you or your family is in need, put in a request with your school counselor and you will receive a week’s worth of food to take home on Fridays no questions asked. Get up to $50 off a prom dress!! Cotton O’Neil Sports Physicals Day is Saturday, May 11th at 8 am to 2 pm. Cotton O’Neil Kanza Park. Get your 2019/2020 sports physical done early for $20, half of which will be donated back to your high school’s athletic department.
